Pilot Transportation Program

The Senior Alliance - Area Agency on Aging 1-C is currently seeking proposals to initiate a pilot Transportation Program to serve older adults in western and southern Wayne County.

This is a six month pilot program commencing in April 2007 and ending on September 30, 2007. The program is based on Demand/Response and requires the ability to provide door-to-door service and assistance as needed.

The following minimum qualifications are required:

  • 24 hours a day / 7 days a week accessibility for transportation services

  • Capacity to provide transportation services throughout western and southern Wayne County and surrounding counties

  • Availability of wheelchair accessible vehicle(s)

  • Ability to assist consumers with mobility limitations, including wheelchair users and assistance to accommodate door-to-door service as needed

  • All drivers and vehicles must be appropriately licensed and inspected as required by the Michigan Secretary of State

  • All vehicles must be covered by liability insurance

Preference will be given to applicants with transportation services that currently meet all minimum qualifications.

A public input session will be held on Friday, February 23, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. at The Senior Alliance office located at 3850 Second Street, Suite 201, Wayne, MI 48184.
